Indigo Blue for decorating your home

I am off to the Gift & Home wares trade shows on the weekend to look for the perfect suppliers for my new home wares business.

Now I am no colour expert but I am going to forecast  Indigo Blue to be on trend for this winter .

I know, it is a classic colour that never really goes out of fashion but I think it will be bigger than ever this year....

As you can see its a colour that works with many styles.

Stunning wallpaper by

Ive said it before but Anna is the master when it comes to mixing colour & pattern.

I love these beautiful Octopus prints from

This gorgeous handmade cushion will be coming to
early next week.

So in preparation for new stock we are having a
40% off store wide

What do you think of my colour prediction?

Decorating with grey & yellow

Decorating a room with a grey-and-yellow color scheme will give the space a fresh, modern look no matter the style of decor.
Whether you decorate with a contemporary, country, eclectic or more traditional look these colours can still work perfectly in any room of your home.

A pale grey wall can fade into the background in a way that white cannot. White is equally at home with these colours often giving a cleaner crisp look where as grey will soften the colour palette somewhat.

Of course a beautiful patterned wallpapered feature wall is also a great way to add interest, texture & make a statement in a room.

Pops of colour with cushions is a safe, affordable way to bring the latest colours into an otherwise neutral space.

Adding some black accents always makes a bold statement.

Yellow is a beautiful summery colour that can give grey the lift it needs as it can be perceived as rather dull all by itself.
Personally I find the warmer, yellow based greys are more appealing to the eye, but this is just my personal preference of course.

I love softness of this room.

What are your thoughts on decorating with grey & yellow...Yay or Nay?

Pantone Colour of the Year 2014 Radiant Orchid

I was pretty surprised to see this one as the new Pantone Colour of the Year, but there are a lot of ways to use Radiant orchid in your home that I could embrace.

For me I would use it as an accent colour

You could go a little bolder & create a feature wall
OR

if you're a major fan then paint the entire room radiant Orchid

Of course there are variations to the shade

Design Seeds alway come up with great colour schemes from nature below are some ways to use this scheme

Very relaxed & eclectic

or slightly bolder, I love it paired with Chartreuse.

Another design seeds colour scheme. This one feels a little more sophisticated

A little sultry & moody

or once again bolder. Very morrocan.

If using it in the home is not for you then how about using it in your next celebration

Drinks

Flowers

Cakes

Or  including it in next seasons wardrobe

I could definately live with these gorgeous YSL shoes.

So do you think you will be embracing Radiant Orchard this year?

A Fabulous Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all had a fabulous lead up to Christmas & got to share your day with your loved ones like we did...

We do enjoy dressing for the occasion.

I had a gold, silver & white theme this year. I do love a good colour co-ordinated Christmas.

Me & my dream guy

We have started a new family tradition this year of taking a crazy family photo. It was heaps of fun!

There's not much room for our tree in this house.

Merry Christmas Everyone,

Dining style

Totally loving this look at the moment.

Source Lily G

Dining tables with NON matching chairs
I found these white crossback chairs on sale at

a nice little french provincial touch!!!

Source The house that AM built

I like either of these looks, it probably helps that I also love the pendant lights in each image as well.
I love these tolix style chairs for adding an idustrial edge.

OH THE STYLE CHOICES.......

This is my every day dining table & chairs, all matching, purchased as a set.
Now I realise there is nothing wrong with that, but you seem to get a more homely feel when you mix things up a bit.
All of this matching furniture throughout my house makes it a little boring & doesn't evoke the feeling I am looking for.

I would be more than happy to keep my table, but I would love to get some new chairs when we get in the dream house.
The issue will be, making a decision on the perfect style at the time!!!

This is what I refer to as my FORMAL dining table & chairs, which has been in storage for the past 4 years.I have always loved it, but am thinking it may need a little jazz up as well.
Whether we recover the chairs in a more sophisticated fabric or perhaps add a nailhead trim.
Any suggestions????

I would love some beautiful tufted dining chairs, I wonder if mine can be reupholstered to look like this?????

Unfortunately it wont be in the budget to replace all of our furniture, we will be able to add a few new bits & pieces & certainly dress things up with some accessories.

Pinned Image

We are planning timber floors & some wainscotting.
This image above is our inspiration for style & colour.

I think my furniture will look fine in this setting, I just need a few key pieces to complete the look & maybe some mini make overs, like nailhead trims or painting over some timber pieces, just to take away that matchy matchy furniture store look!!!

Perhaps I need to start learning to upholster, I have plans for tufted ottomans & benches, but thats a whole other post.

What do you think, should everything match or should we be mixing it up more to achieve a warm, homely feel?
