Slow down Santa...Slow down

Does anyone else fell a little overwhelmed by how quickly Christmas is speeding towards us.
I am actually almost done with my gift shopping, my tree is all decorated & looking fabulous.
I have all of my gift wrap & ribbons ready to go!
The christmas day celebrations will be at my brothers house, so minimum thought or effort is required by me for the day.

Are you hosting the festivities this year or do you get to put your feet up & enjoy someone elses hospitality?

Why do I feel like this little Santa in the above pic???

I feel life needs to slow down, just a tad!

The past month has brought about so much change in our lives, all positive but hectic all the same.
Seeing my older 2 children instantly transform into adults has thrown me a curveball I was expecting them to do this, one at a time, with 2 years between them. They both have full time jobs, dreamchild no1 has moved  out & is living 4 hours away at her fathers house. She is really happy &  earning great money& with  only  7 more days to wait to get the results from her higher school certificate exams, fingers crossed she gets the mark she needs to get into University.

These are pics from her Year 12 formal (Prom)

Time to cut the apron strings Trishy & accept these babies are grown ups!!!!

How about you, do you think 2011 could do with an extra few weeks or will you be glad to see the back of it & start fresh for 2012???

Hello 2011

Hi everyone,
I found myself dropping off planet blog over the Xmas/ new years period,
life was just a bit hectic,
filled with family & festivities!
Here's a bit of an update of how we filled our days...

We did Christmas dinner at our house twice,

The first time was a few days before Chrissy for our family that were travelling elsewhere for the big day & then again on Christmas day for us & my parents.
It was a really lovely day & I was lucky enough to be given my first D SLR camera....
I haven't stopped taking photo's since, mind you I have NO idea what I'm doing.
Thank goodness for all of those talented bloggers that enjoy passing on tips to the newbie photographers!!!!

Although this is an old photo from my last house, I really did get to share a bottle of Moet with my lovely neighbor & friends for New years.
Maitland put on a fantastic fireworks display on the Hunter river each year & we had a fabulous view of them from our street, which was great!!!

Then it was time to take down the tree & put my house back together, the living area seems so much more spacious without a giant tree in the room.

We have enjoyed some great family days, this is my 2 favourite men fishing at Stockton beach

of course you cant go to the beach without building a few castles

dream child no.1 also got a DSLR off Santa so we had a lovely day snapping the sights of Newcastle & Stockton

My ultra gorgeous little sister is also the proud owner of a fab camera & the 3 of us wandered around like crazy tourists snapping up the sights & experimenting with different features on the camera....sooooo much to learn, soooo much fun!

We have also had to have a couple of skate park excursions for dream child no.3 to hone his scooter skills!

So this is what Ive been up to lately, plus a trip to the movies to see "Mega Mind", a few shopping adventures & several trips to our local pool.

We have so many exciting adventures planned just exploring Newcastle & The Hunter Valley, we don't have time to go on a holiday & that's why I love where I live!

What have you been up to so far?

New blog on the block

I remember when I first started out blogging I was beside myself whenever I got a new follower...
Oh hang on a minute, nothings changed.
It really is a thrill to meet a new follower!!!
BUT
What I was going to say was, when I first started out ,the lovely Ange from Chair up introduced me to her friends & lots of them popped over to my blog to say Hi & I was on my way!!!
Thank you Ange for being so welcoming & full of encouragement, it was greatly appreciated.

Ange is a whizz at furniture make overs & reupholstering chairs etc, you really should pop by & check out her blog if you haven't done so already.

Now the new blog I would like to introduce you to is

Another beautiful blogger residing on the Gold Coast, QLD Australia.
The sunshine state certainly produces some inspiring, stylish ladies!!!

You should drop by for a peak as it is a treasure trove of eye candy such as these gorgeous images

Stop by & follow belle Inspirations "on a journey of all things INSPIRATIONAL" & give her a huge
 blog land welcome!!

Thank You for all of your lovely comments regarding my 100th post.

You bloggers certainly know how to make a gal feel luuurved!!!

All the lovely comments about my Xmas tree made me feel rather proud of myself, I have to confess my "feather garlands" are actually feather boa's. They cost $4 each at a shop called Hot Dollar, I have 4 on my tree but could do with 2 more.

Have a lovely week my friends!!!

Christmas tree inspiration

So with a bit over a month left until we decorate the Christmas tree, we always do this on December 1st, I'm looking for a little inspiration.
Every year I like to have a bit of a theme or colour scheme in mind.
Last year I let the kids go nuts & do what ever they wanted & I must say it was a bit of a Hodge podge tree( no offense kids!)
My family like to tease me & call me the "tinsel police" ,because, I like the tree to be perfect, so last year I stepped back & let them go for it.

Lets just say.... It nearly killed me!!!

I will be having a little control say in the decorating this year
Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!

The moons & stars on this gorgeous tree are actually baked from cookie dough.
I don't think I would like to hang actual cookies from my tree for a month, here in Australia I would fear an ant infestation would feast upon my tree, or worse still I may end up with mice, but if you pop on over to
Jenny has a fabulous idea that would give you a similar look, that isn't edible!

Now this one really ticks a few boxes for me....pardon the pun....it is decorated with clock faces.
I do have a little clock addiction, so I think something like this could be fun & VERY ME!!!
Does any one know where I could come across some little clock faces ?

So So So pretty !!!

The above images are all from country living & there are many more to inspire you.

This beautiful tree comes complete with a How-To article here
Apparently over sized decorations are the key to a glamorous looking tree!

I'm not sure if its the tree I love in this home or the decor, what a beautiful room to relax in!

a few well placed pops of red to get into the Christmas spirit & co ordinate the room with the tree,
Very nice!!
I just love the giant snow flakes hanging from the ceiling.

lots of bright colours make this tree look very cheery & bring a little whimsy to the room!!!

I couldn't resist this image as it has ghost chairs in it & mini ghost chairs!
You know how I dream of one day having the space to be a proud owner of a "Ghost chair"

How will you decorate for Christmas this year, will there be a theme, a set colour scheme or just a pile of kid fun?
