New designer on the block

Well the time has come for Dream child No 1 to begin her degree.

She is studying Branded Fashion at the prestigious

& her classes begin this week!!

These images are some of her designs & have all been created using garbage bags, melted & fused together to make strips of material to be cut up & created into amazing dresses.

She has spent a gap year studying a Cert 4 in design through TAFE  & working to save enough money to ensure she afford a life in Sydney.

She now has a lovely little apartment in Leichardt, a good part time job that will work around her timetable & she is ready to go....

I have to say I am very proud of her for setting a goal & working so very hard over the last 12months to  achieve it.
She worked lots of overtime, studied hard at TAFE & even now has taken on extra courses as she wants to be advanced at her pattern making skills.
She volunteered her time last year to work back stage at Newcastle Fashion week & is already working towards designs so she can enter that very same fashion show this year as an
 "emerging talent"

Folks, watch this space, you may get to witness the story of a famous Aussie designer unfold before your eyes :)
She is enthusiastic & driven, she loves her new big city life, she is confident & always enjoys meeting new people & most of all she loves adventure, I think she will have a ball over the next 3 yrs.

I am SUPER excited to see where life will take her!!

Love you to the moon & back GP  xxx

I love how soothing & inviting this lounge room is, I could certainly relax in here with a nice glass of chardonnay!

These two rooms are designed by Tineke Triggs from Artistic Designs for Living. in San Francisco.
I love the hints of navy & green, they really give the whole room a stylish finish.

Which do you prefer?

Designer help!

I love this room would really like to see this beautiful space from a few more angles, especially the dining area.

I found this image at
House & Home
It belongs to Jilaire Wagner & it was the runner up in the House & Home Design contest.

Does anyone know where I can find some more images of this gorgeous room or the entire house, i love this style?
I have googled Jilaire Wagner which led me to many things, but not what I was looking for.

Please someone put me out of my misery & feed my design stalking Curiosity!!!

Have a fabulous weekend my friends

Dwellings

I stumbled across a stylishly talented design firm from Michigan in the US  & I just had to share it with you all

Dwellings traditional living room

Dwellings is an interior design studio owned by Laura Davidson
Laura & her team not only help their clients in making the best choice in fabrics, furniture, accessories and paint colors that create a warm and comfortable space, they also assist in designing a new home from the plan  through to completion

Dwellings traditional kitchen

This kitchen is divine,
I'm guessing by the lovely fabric covered stools that NO small children live here!!

Dwellings traditional exterior
Dwellings studio is  located in a cute cottage in Grand ville, Michigan, where they showcase a wide range of their products.
Dwellings traditional porch
Dwellings studio is open to the public & each time you visit there is a new look.
Dwellings traditional bedroom
From their portfolio this  Green Lake home was one of my favourites.

I could seriously see myself living in this home, the colour scheme is so calming I think it would be nice to put your feet up & relax at the end of the day!

Stalking the Globe

I really love all the images I'm seeing of the humble, world globe being used as a decorator piece. I would normally envision a globes placement to be on a book shelf or a desk in a study, but, since I began looking at images in blogs, I have discovered them to be used for so many decorating  applications & I love it!
I never realized that you could get so many styles, sizes & colours.
We have always owned the typical blue globe that you see in a classroom at your local school & we have had a lot of fun over the years, giving it a spin in search of  another country.

A globe adds an artistic addition to any display.A pop of yellow really looks awesome in this otherwise cool blue & white display.

Do you think everyone that sits on this couch has to give at least one of these globes a spin.
What a fabulous mix of old & new.
 I love this look!!!

The blue & red add great pops of colour in this retro style decor, with a couple of globes in the corner adding a little extra character.

This is one of my most favourite images, I just love the simplicity of the neutral colour scheme with the traditional style decor.

This rather extensive collection looks as though it has evolved over time

I love how the globes here are mimicked by the light fittings.

A fabulous choice for a room divider

Only globes

A very modern  display, there is a globe available for any style

Teamed with this worn style leather chair & Ottoman, this display lends a masculine feel to the room

This nice big silver globe is very beautiful & I imagine it would be rather expensive, but it would certainly be a lovely feature in any space.

I would love a collection of small paper globes like these to display in a nice bowl on the coffee table, I think they would be a great conversation starter.

Do you have a globe or two at your house & did you think outside the square to display it, or, pop it in the study?

I have noticed in many of the display homes I have toured of late, that globes are definitely a decorating trend with designers at the moment & its one that I am personally enjoying.
I think it gives the home a feeling, that the occupants are perhaps well travelled, so I think I need to jump on this band wagon...apart from a 3 day weekend in New Zealand I haven't travelled at all, but hey,
"Fake it, til, ya make it!!!"
cause I can't see me going anywhere, any time soon!!!
