Stylish Master Bedroom

Image via Houzz

We really are into some serious planning for the construction of the dream house at the moment. Actual construction may not begin until later in the year because, as you can imagine ALOT of planning needs to occur before anything on this large scale can begin.
We will be tackling this as owner/builders.
There are quotes to obtain & products to source.
Most importantly, the bank has said "go for it" & given us a list of what they require to finance us as owner builders.

The dream guy is good at this sort of thing having project managed many large scale electrical jobs as a part of his business, so really all I need to do is plan the pretty stuff. We are both very visual people so I do need to provide images of my expectations of the finished product.
I am wanting some sort of pendant light or small chandelier as bedside lighting instead of lamps & I thought these images are a great representation of that idea, especially the first pic as we will have windows either side of our bed as well!

I have a little silver table just like this one which I would like sitting next to a feature chair in my bedroom

Once again the bedside windows, I have a similar shaped bedhead to this only in timber.
The round mirror in this image is pretty fabulous don't you think?

Hopefully once the house is complete there will be a few dollars left to buy some new accessories & update some of our furniture...depends on how much self control we have when selecting those fixtures & fittings I suppose !!!

If there is one thing I have learn't over time from blogging " details are important "
Get the details right & you get a really beautiful end product.
I will be asking your advise as I go along just to be sure I get it right!!

Are you all about the details?

Master bedroom heaven

 Source HOUZZ

Now this is my idea of perfection...
I love the restful colour scheme, the decor is not to feminine that my man would question his sexuality.
Fabulous bedside chandeliers(something from my bedroom wishlist)
I'm loving the upholstered wall for the bed head & how they have framed it to give it a very stylish finish.
Of course, you can't forget that tufted ottoman at the end of the bed, I have been lusting after one of those for YEARS now.

Ahhh just perfect!!
What do you think?

Table scaping

I  had to share this beautiful dining room table scape with you.

KitchenLab traditional dining room

There are so many different elements at play here, I guess you would say its an eclectic take on a traditional style

KitchenLab eclectic dining room

I love glass & silver teamed with timber.
Chandeliers always make me swoon!!!!
A simple floral arrangement is something I would like to master.
The colour scheme is very warm & inviting.
A rather relaxed take on what I imagine to be the formal dining space.

What do you think, love it or hate it????

Fancy a Faux Fireplace

Image via wicker & stitch

When we finally build our dream house I really do fancy the idea of a faux fireplace in the master bedroom...

Something to add a little romance to the boudoir

I don't want an actual fire, just the mantle to give a hint of what could be...

Image via My shabby stream side studio

A lovely arrangement of fragrant candles is all the flame I require!

Image via Urban farm girl

Accompanied by a pretty pendant light or chandelier

Image via My Summerhouse

with a mirrored firescreen to add a little extra spark & give it a stunning finish

of course a lovely accent chair would also be fitting in such a romantic space

mirrors really do add that extra bling a girl needs...

Image via Dreamy whites

I know this isn't in a bedroom but still its so feminine & pretty I just had to include it...

Now a bit of the romance will be lost when I place the TV above it, but, what better way to display the big black box...

Image via DIY Show off
Perhaps I could get my dream guy to build a picture frame around the TV to make it look like art & help keep the romantic look of our dream bedroom.
That is IF I can talk him into the Faux fireplace to start with, at least this is a decorating item that can be added to your decor any time, so I can work on this one at a later date. The poor man, lucky he doesn't read my blog, he would know just how many ideas I have for decorating this dream house, he would probably run a mile, LOL!!!

Dramatic Dining

color combos - orange

Ive always been  a huge fan of light neutral walls, you know the whole white on white ,or timber & white,
 but,
the more time I spend in the blogosphere the more deliciously dramatic dining images
capture my heart.
Just look at that amazing ceiling & chandelier, this is such a spectacular room.

The contrast of this deep purple with white & timber is stunning.

I don't actually know who is responsible for this image, but I love love love it...
The perfect shade on the walls, the mirrored dining table & buffet, the fabric on the upholstered chairs & the warmth of those drapes, I don't know about you, but I really like this dining room, right down to the beautiful horse art work...
What do you think of this one?

Phoebe Howard always does it with style, I don't think Ive seen an example of her work yet that I haven't swooned over!

Image via Things to inspire

Very Elegant,
I love this dining room, but
elegant
definately isn't a word that would really describe me, so probably not the right style for my laid back home!

Source unknown.

Now this is a dramatic dining room!
Are you brave enough to paint a room black, I don't think I am, even if this does look incredible!

image via House & Garden UK

Perhaps a black wallpaper feature like this would suit those of us with a faint heart!!!

Image via decor pad
Once again, very beautiful to look at , that ceiling is incredible, perfect for showing off such an incredible chandelier. I think the turquoise upholstery on the tufted chairs & curtain trims, really softens the space!

source unknown
I have a big square 8 seater  jarrah table for my formal dining table, its surrounded by 8 matching scroll back chairs, upholstered in a sandstone coloured micro suede. I think a nice medium to dark greige on the walls would really compliment them nicely.
I also love to see a nice sparkling chandelier hanging over the dining table, every girl needs a little bling in her life!!

What are your favourite dining room schemes?

Bedside lights with a difference

Image via A page of Inspiration

I love the idea of pendant lights or chandeliers as bedside lights, something a little different to the usual lamp

I love how they leave the bedsides free to display something pretty...

Images via Decor pad

I love these lanterns for a touch of whimsy.

Source unknown

These pendants add a very elegant touch to a  formal bedroom, complimenting the extremely beautiful sunburst mirror, without over powering it.
I wonder if this is a guest bedroom or does someone out there have children that would love & respect such an incredible space.
I know my kids wouldn't, they like to add their own little style stamp to their bedrooms!!!

Very glamorous, what can I say...

I'm really loving these Plume lights at the moment

They are available through Mercator lighting here in Australia.
I love a pair of these pendants for the bedside & the ceiling mounted version for over the bath in the ensuite, to connect the two rooms.

Here is one in action!

Do you have a chandelier or two in your bedroom?

The Home Office & a vintage typewriter

I love a nice tidy home office, there is so much inspiration out there Its hard to make a decision on where to locate one in your home...

I really love this idea for an office in the guest bedroom & the joinery matches the rest of my home & how lovely would it be to sit at the window while you work!!!

This space has an incredible amount of storage, definitely a necessity in an office. The chandelier really adds a lovely feminine touch , don't you think?

Cole Street traditional home office

What a practical idea to keep your home tidy, especially if you live in a small space. Just close the doors & walk away from the work, Love it!!

Image via Country Living
This is extremely pretty & feminine, I could see myself daydreaming here!!!

I would love to have something like this set up on the wall inside my walk in pantry, as well as a row of hooks to hang the school  & library bags from, like a mini command centre...

I scanned these 2 images from a copy of Home Beautiful about 12months ago, I just love this idea...

These pocket doors are a fabulous idea, when your not working just close them & pop your chair in the corner to use as an accent piece in the room, very clever design!!!

From memory, this extremely stylish desk belongs to Marcia Cross, AKA Bree from Desperate housewives, this lives in her trailer that she uses on set...very stylish indeed!!!

I would love a beautifully disguised filing system like this one...

Image via Decor pad
A lovely addition to a teenagers room, I love the floating shelves...

This is my latest find, a lovely little vintage typewriter, I found this one at a local antique store for just $45
She needs a little bit of a clean up, but otherwise its in lovely condition.
My little Remington Portable came in its own hard case & is in full working condition, My kids think its a real hoot to pretend they are typing, like in the olden days. My mother in law said she worked on something similar at her first job. I took this photo in the antique store, forgive the quality, I will have to shine it up & make a lovely little display in the study area of our new home.

What have you done in your home to create a study area & storage for all of the mess a home office attracts?

House Update & a big Thank you!

I love these chandeliers over the bedsides & think I have convinced my dream guy that its the perfect idea for our master bedroom, I haven't shown him any pics as yet, I just talk about how much I want them, veeerryyy regularly!!!

Just a quick post to say a
BIG THANK YOU
When I wrote about my concept plan & how I wanted my dream house to look, I asked for your ideas & suggestions on things I was unsure about  & I couldn't have gotten a better response.
You guys offered so much encouragement & helpful tips, I know I'm going to get all the advice & assistance I need just right here.
For this I want to say Thank you & here is what I have learned:

image via Decor Pad

Two mirrors in the ensuite is the preferred choice,
wouldn't it be just Divine to be the lucky girl who owns this beautiful bathroom.

Image via Elements at home

Then there was the kitchen island & some fabulous tips...

I don't recall where I got this image from but this is another island I really adore, nice & simple but stylish,
Don't you think?

You suggested I make sure it is deep enough to ensure the kids don't put dirty foot prints on the back panel, you would think this would be a no brainer as the rental we are living in has gyprock(plaster) as the back panel at the breakfast bar & it is always filthy.
 So thanks for this reminder.
Another fabulous suggestion was to put a power point on the side of the island & that is definitely going on the electrical plan, certainly very practical & logical suggestions.

I really do appreciate your ideas, I have put so much thought into planning this house, but, there will always be things I will miss, no matter how much I stare at the plans & measure everything insight.
