A SERIOUS scented soy candle addiction !

I kid you not!!!

I am seriously addicted to scented soy wax candles....

There's no harm in that...right.

Well technically there's no harm as they are non toxic & scented with essential oils which are fantastic for the mind & senses.

 The only harm is to my wallet, ha ha ha!

Seen as though I loved them so much I decided to stock them in my store but its a real struggle to not just burn them all myself.

Oh the greed!!!!!

They all look pretty &  smell so incredible.

I find there is nothing more relaxing than lighting a candle & making a nice cup of tea or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening.

My kids really love the smell of a scented candle burning in the house as well & because soy wax is a soft wax it has a lower burn temperature which means it is highly unlikely to scald  or burn any one if it were to be spilled

I had a fantastic time creating my little photo shoot & styling them with things from my garden, now to work more on learning how to edit them nicely!!

We have these beautiful antique jars in 5 different scents & 3 different sizes.

Small - 15 hour burn time - $10ea

Medium - 40 hour burn time - $20ea

Large - 60 Hour Burn time - $30 ea

They are all hand poured in the Currumbin Valley, QLD using 100% Soy wax.

So they are not mixed with any other waxes.

This also means they are less likely to affect people that suffer with allergies.They  don't contain any of the cancer causing chemicals found in the waxes derived from crude oils.

Using 100% cotton wicks which are lead free & matched perfectly to the candle size  prevents tunneling of blackening of the jar.

This is how evenly our Dream House Candles burn, which means there isn't any waste at the end.

Unlike this candle I had been using previously, its created a well & has lots of blackening on the wax & the sides of the jar. I find there is so much waste on these ones as one entire side doesn't burn & lets face it, we expect to get the entire burn time out of our candles. That is what we are paying for.

Did you know you need to nip the top off the wick before you light  your candle  each time. 

By keeping it no longer than about 5mm you maximise the burn time & prevent any soot forming,keeping your candle looking nice. 

These incredible Tapestry bowl candles have a whopping 160 hours burn time.

They are pretty large with 4 wicks.

I love that the vessels are fully re usable after the candle is finished, as these bowls would make fabulous little trinket dishes.

The tapestry bowls come in 3 different colours, Black, Green & Violet & each one has a different scent.

The Verona Candles are even prettier in real life.

We have them in Black & Clear & each one comes in two scents

'Bliss' or 'Harmony'

They have a burn time of approximately 47 hours & retail for $25 ea.

Buying Bed Linen

There is nothing nicer than making your bed for the first time with fabulous new bed linen...

or is this just a sensation I experience???

 

We recently purchased a new mattress for our king size bed, but it is much thicker than the previous mattress & believe it or not, the king size quilt cover is about 10cm too narrow to cover it.

When I make my bed I have to line it up so the side you look at when you walk in the door is covered & the window side  has the sheets exposed.

 

Thankfully there is a solution to this problem, its called the 'Super King'.

A traditional King is  245 x 210cm

The Super king is 270 x 240cm

 

So Ive done a little online retail therapy & this is what I bought

 

 

The Ascot seafoam quilt set.

 

I have only purchased the quilt & basic pillow cases & I think once it arrives I might go & get some fabric to sew a few cushions in various sizes to dress it up a little.

I would love a white quilt but I plan to save that for the dream house.

 I want it to be sparkling & new when I move in & if the speed we are currently travelling at with getting organised for building this house is any indication of how long the build will take, then my quilt will be old & worn by the time we move in.

We had expected to be started by mid may but the dream guy has changed his plan of attack & still hasn't finished quoting it so it could be months before there is any action.

He is currently building a kitchenette in his shed/mancave seen as though we will spend all of our spare time there once the building begins, he has already built a bathroom.

Brand new on line store

When I was a brand new member of the blogging community, a lovely kind soul named Nellie popped by & welcomed me aboard  the addictive world of blogging. She introduced me to her readers & from her fabulous post I was on the road to having a great group of followers.

Better Homes & Gardens Live

Well my trip to see BHG live was definitely worth while.

 We had a wonderful day out, although my guest list dropped off a little. It only ended up being myself, my mum & dad & my 3yr old daughter, the others all got what they thought was a better offer!

I had 7 tickets so I gave the 4 spare tickets to some people out the front before we went in as I didn't want them to go to waste.

There was an enourmous amount of exhibits to explore & everyone working on them was extremely helpful.

Mya had a wonderful day, she painted & played & ate her way thru the exhibits, sampling lollies, chocolate, popcorn & whatever people offered her really!!!

There where a lot of live shows from the BHG team but having a pram meant you couldn't really get close enough to see what was going on, but I'm sure they where great.

I did catch a snippet of Tara  doing a demonstration & I have to say, she is even more gorgeous in real life than she is on TV.

I was a little disappointed that there where only 4 rooms set up on display to inspire us.

Another shopping temptation

Natalie at Blossoming Visions , recently did a lovely post about Debbie Dusenberry of Curious Sofa . Debbie has a wonderful website & on line store as well as a very informative blog, there are many things in her store I fell in love with, but I think these two little items will be on my MUST HAVE list for my dream kitchen

I would love to hang this gorgeous bakery sign in my kitchen, it would not just look fabulous, it would also create a very jovial talking point in my home, seen as though I am very well known by my family & friends for not being very "into" the whole cooking experience!
